Rotary Int'l Peace Park News
“The Rotary International Peace Park will celebrate the internationalism that Spartanburg’s community represents, “ says Elizabeth Belenchia Project Founder and Coordinator. She had seen Rotary Peace Parks during her trips to Japan for business and as Governor’s delegate to the Southeast US/Japan conventions.
This project has thus far engaged the imagination of many involved parties through Belenchia’s
leadership. The plans include art gardens, sculptures, meeting accommodations, picnic areas and simply a quiet place for families to visit. The preliminary designs were drawn by Clemson University students. In February 2003, Belenchia organized an architectural design workshop to expand on these ideas. Completion is targeted for early 2005, in time for Rotary’s 100-year Celebration.
